Glenn Mehta, BBS (Hons), MA (Research) is Head of Department of Marketing and Business Computing and a former lecturer in Social Media, Management/Marketing Communications, and Tourism at the Institute of Technology, Tallaght (ITT) in South-West Dublin since 2001.

Early in his lecturing career, Glenn focused on business and management communication models in global enterprise. In recent years, he has become an avid researcher in social media communications and social media management, with a focus on the implementation of social media strategies to improve customer engagement and company profitability, particularly in SMEs in the services sector.

In his role as lecturer, Glenn has lectured to thousands of students on the importance of effective communications, including an appreciation of the power of digital marketing and social media in modern enterprise and society. He has researched educational strategies to embrace digital technologies to enhance learning and student engagement.

In his private capacity as a management and marketing communications consultant, he has devised strategies for several Irish-based and global organisations on the effective use of digital technologies such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and Google in their business models, and has developed methods to use social media effectively in his career as lecturer and management consultant.

Recently, Glenn has consulted with clients throughout Europe, South Africa, Canada and the United States, including training the Web Unit of the European Parliament Communications Directorate-General on the best use of social media to animate the voting community in the run up to the European Parliament elections in 2014.

Glenn currently runs a busy Department, with Certificate, Degree, Honours Degree, Higher Diploma and Masters programs in Marketing Management, Advertising and Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing, Creative Digital Media, Data Analytics, Social Media Marketing, Applied Digital Marketing and International Digital Management and Sales, and the MA in Media and Digital Arts, managing a team of 55. At present, Glenn is also Acting Head of Department of Accounting and Professional Studies.

Glenn has published two books: Infinite Ripple – The Social Media Revolution and The Welcome Business – An Introduction to Travel and Tourism in Ireland.
